Custis Tomb. Picture of tomb monument with metal fence around it and tree. Another tomb to right of tree. Written on back: The tomb of the Hon. John Custis of "Arlington" in Northampton County, Virginia. This was the original "Arlington" plantation. The house has long since disappeared. John Custis was the husband of the fiery Francis Parke (daughter of Daniel Parke - Govorner of the Leeward Islands), and they were the parents of Daniel Parke Custis- Martha Washinton’s first husband.
