Green Army Air Service officer hat of Maj. Jack Phillips of Melfa, VA. Hat has a brass eagle emblem, brass bar, button, and leaves on a black leather brim. Brown leather sweatband on inside of hat. Hat is a size 6 3/4. Marked on the inside above the sweatband "U.S. Patent No. 2536134" and "8405-634-2482" on the sweatband. Possibly an Army Enlisted Service hat. Phillips served in the US Army Air Service during World War II and the Air Force during the Korean War and Vietnam War. |
