Description |
Brown silk taffeta, second day dress for wedding trousseau. Two pieces. Long sleeves and buttons down the front. 20 buttonholes with 6 buttons left. Raised velvet edging down front to hem and around bottom of sleeves. Velvet edging parts on the shirt to reveal brown pleated silk which also goes across the front of the dress. 6 raised velvet bands go across the pleated fabric. Bodice come to a V in the front. Back of dress is fitted to waist coming to a pleated flounce lined in raised velvet. Raised velvet goes from stand up color in a V in upper back. Belonged to Annie Jacob Waters of Melfa. Worn as a second day dress after her marriage to William F. Waters on April 28, 1880 in Pungoteague. a: Top piece. b: Bottom piece. |
