Description |
Amputation kit in a wooden case. Includes eight amputation tools; five knives, one saw, one pick, and one bone forcep. Case has two compartments for tools and a small third compartment for a bottle. Owned and used by Edgar Waples Robertson, M.D. Top of case reads "Edgar W. Robertson MD." Made by F. Arnold & Son of Baltimore, MD. Company mark on the inside panel reads "F. Arnold & Son, Manufacturers of Surgical Instruments, 15 S. Sharp St., Baltimore." Tools are marked "F. Arnold & Son." Dr. Edgar Waples Robertson was a doctor in Onancock, VA in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He would have used this kit to treat patients with severe infections or injuries to the limbs. |
