Lucius Kellam Jr. was born in Belle Haven, VA. After attending Trinity College he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the owner of Kellam Energy, Inc., a large petroleum distribution and sales organization that operated throughout Delmarva. As the chairman of the Chesapeake Bridge & Tunnel Commission he advocated for and oversaw the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. The bridge was named after him in 1987. Kellam was civicly active and held many positions with several different banks and medical organizations on the Shore.This included the Shore Savings Bank, Peoples Trust Bank, Tidewater Regional Health Planning Council, Eastern Virginia Medical Foundation, and Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital. |
